US Intelligence Chief Steps Down to Care for Husband Battling Cancer

Tulsi Gabbard, the Director of National Intelligence in the United States, has announced her resignation from the top intelligence post. She made the decision to focus on supporting her husband after he received a serious health diagnosis.

This unexpected move has drawn attention as many admire her choice to put family first during a difficult time.

Gabbard explained that her husband, Abraham, was recently diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer. In her resignation letter to President Donald Trump, she stated that she needs to step away from public service to be by his side. Her resignation will take effect on June 30, giving time for a smooth handover of duties.

The role of Director of National Intelligence involves overseeing all US intelligence agencies. Gabbard had been serving in this important position since early 2025. Her departure comes at a time when the country continues to face various global security challenges.

President Trump acknowledged her decision and expressed support. He noted that Gabbard wants to help her husband fight the tough battle against cancer. Many people have responded with messages of encouragement and prayers for the family.

This story highlights the personal sacrifices that public officials sometimes make. While Gabbard leaves her high-profile job, her action shows strong family values. As she steps down, the focus now turns to who will take over the critical intelligence leadership role in the coming weeks.
