Alleged Irregularities Rock Voting Process in Kwara APC Governorship Primary

Reports of alleged irregularities have dodged parts of Kwara State as the All Progressives Congress governorship primary election got underway on Friday, with claims that electoral officers arrived at some communities without voting materials.

According to information obtained by Unfiltered Reporting, electoral officers reportedly visited Idofian and Oke Ode without electoral materials and allegedly asked party members to affirm a candidate identified as Soliu Yakubu Danlandi instead of conducting the voting process.

The development reportedly sparked tension among some party supporters and electorates in the affected areas, with calls for resistance against the alleged move.

Sources claimed that aggrieved supporters urged party members to reject the process and challenge the officials over the absence of voting materials.

As of the time of filing this report, the Kwara State chapter of the APC had yet to issue an official response to the allegations, while it remained unclear whether fresh materials would be deployed to the affected locations.

The governorship primary comes amid heightened political activities within the ruling party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The exercise was earlier postponed from Thursday to Friday by the party leadership following the late arrival of members of the election committee to the state.

Confirming the postponement on Thursday, the Kwara APC Chairman, Prince Sunday Fagbemi, said the delay was caused by logistical challenges affecting the committee members’ movement to the state.

He appealed to party members and stakeholders to remain peaceful and law-abiding ahead of the rescheduled primary.
