SDP Demands Probe Into Attempted Attack on Abuja Secretariat
The Social Democratic Party has called for a comprehensive investigation into the attempted attack on its National Secretariat in Abuja, urging security agencies to identify and prosecute those responsible as well as any individuals suspected of sponsoring the incident.
In a statement issued by Lawal Ibrahim on behalf of the party’s National Chairman, Shehu Musa Gabam, the party condemned the alleged invasion attempt by suspected hoodlums and criminal elements.
The SDP described the incident as a serious threat to public safety, party members, and Nigeria’s democratic process.
According to the statement, the individuals behind the attempted attack were allegedly acting on behalf of persons seeking to forcefully position themselves as the party’s presidential candidate ahead of future elections.
The party further claimed that the objective of the invasion was to disrupt activities at the national secretariat before security personnel intervened and prevented a breakdown of law and order.
The SDP called on relevant authorities to carry out a detailed investigation into the matter and ensure that everyone connected to the incident, including alleged financiers and sponsors, is brought to justice.
