Police Arrest 2 Kidnap, Robbery Suspects in Edo

The Edo State Police Command have arrested two suspects, Maxwell Mathew and Samuel Mathew, both from Abraka in Delta State, in connection with alleged kidnapping and robbery.

According to a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Moses Joel Yamu, the arrest was made following a distress call regarding suspicious activities at a hotel within the Oba Market Division’s jurisdiction.

Acting on intelligence, police operatives raided the hotel and apprehended the two suspects.

A search of the suspects yielded a range of incriminating items, including a Mercedes Benz GLC 300 with a Delta State registration number, two face masks, a locally made shotgun, and two live cartridges.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects had confessed to robbing one Patrick Omoregie of the vehicle, an iPhone 16 Plus, an unspecified amount of cryptocurrency, and N150,000 in cash.

The Edo State Police Command has stated that the suspects will be handed over to the Delta State Police Command for further investigation and prosecution, highlighting the collaborative efforts between neighboring police commands in the fight against crime.

The arrest serves as a testament to the Edo State Police Command’s commitment to tackling kidnapping and robbery in the state, and demonstrates the importance of inter-command cooperation in bringing perpetrators to justice.
