Bayelsa’s Pioneer Airline Gets Approval to Start Flights
The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has presented an Air Operator Certificate to Pioneer Airline, the Bayelsa State-owned carrier. This certificate officially allows the airline to begin commercial flight operations across Nigeria. The development was announced by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo.
The airline’s management team, led by its Managing Director, Capt. Ungbuku, received the certificate from the regulator. Following the presentation, the team paid a courtesy visit to Minister Keyamo to express their appreciation.
This milestone marks a major step for the state government in providing air travel services to residents and beyond.
Minister Keyamo linked the growth of state-owned airlines like Pioneer to the positive aviation policies of President Bola Tinubu’s administration. He noted that more such airlines are expected in the near future. The minister believes this expansion will give air travellers more choices when flying within the country.
Pioneer Airline’s entry into the market is expected to improve connectivity, especially to Bayelsa and other parts of the Niger Delta. It will also create jobs and support economic activities in the region. Many see this as a boost to local development through better transportation options.
This latest approval highlights ongoing efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s aviation sector. With Pioneer Airline now cleared to fly, passengers can look forward to additional flight services in the coming months.
The development brings fresh hope for more reliable and accessible air travel in the country.
