Governor Uba Sani Explains Why the North Will Back Tinubu in 2027

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has articulated several strategic reasons why the Northern region will back President Bola Tinubu for a second term in 2027. Speaking on the matter, the governor emphasized that the President’s approach to governance and regional development has significantly altered the political landscape in the North.

The governor pointed to the widespread distribution of federal government projects across Northern states as a primary motivator. He argued that the tangible infrastructure and developmental initiatives seen in regions like Kaduna have convinced many stakeholders that the administration is genuinely committed to the North’s economic revitalization.

According to Sani, these projects serve as “evidence of performance” that will resonate with voters more than ethnic or regional sentiments.

Furthermore, Governor Sani highlighted the unprecedented political unity emerging in key states. He noted that in Kaduna, for example, diverse groups that were previously divided along religious or ethnic lines are now aligning under the APC banner. This internal consolidation, he suggests, is a direct result of the President’s inclusive leadership style and his ability to engage with various power blocs within the region.

The governor also addressed the repayment of political loyalty, suggesting that the North recognizes the President’s past support for Northern candidates and feels a sense of reciprocal obligation. He argued that the Northern political establishment values stability and continuity, particularly when it is accompanied by visible progress in security and agriculture two sectors critical to the region’s survival.

Governor Sani expressed confidence that the President could secure a massive majority in the North, even predicting that Tinubu could claim up to 70% of the votes in Kaduna State alone.

He dismissed the efforts of opposition parties to create a “Northern bloc” against the presidency, stating that the grassroots population is more interested in governance results than in the political maneuvering of elite circles.

By framing the 2027 election as a choice between performance-driven continuity and untested alternatives, Sani is positioning the North as the strategic bedrock of the President’s re-election campaign. He maintains that as long as the federal government continues its current trajectory of regional investment, the North’s support remains a mathematical certainty.
