Davido Pursues Master’s Degree in Political Science in UK

Afrobeats superstar, Davido has revealed that he is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Political Science in the United Kingdom, adding a new academic milestone to his career outside music.

The award-winning singer, whose real name is David Adeleke, disclosed this during a recent interview, where he spoke about his educational background and future ambitions. According to him, he already holds a Bachelor of Science degree and is now focused on advancing his studies abroad.

I’m pursuing my Masters in the UK in Political Science. I already have my BSc,” Davido said. The revelation has sparked widespread reactions across social media, with many fans applauding the singer for prioritising education despite his international fame and demanding music career.

Davido, one of Africa’s biggest music exports, has often expressed interest in governance and public affairs, largely due to his family’s strong political background. His uncle, Senator Ademola Adeleke, currently serves as the Governor of Osun State, while other members of the Adeleke family have also been active in Nigerian politics.

Although the singer previously stated that the nature of Nigerian politics has made him reconsider fully venturing into the field, he maintained that he still has a passion for leadership and governance.

The “Unavailable” crooner also noted in an earlier interview that joining politics in the future would not necessarily mean the end of his music career. Davido remains one of the most influential figures in the global Afrobeats movement, with multiple chart-topping songs, international collaborations and sold-out performances across the world.

His latest academic pursuit has further strengthened conversations about entertainers balancing fame, education and long-term career ambitions beyond the stage.
