Obi, Kwankwaso’s Exit Spurs US to Work Harder, Says David Mark

National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Senator David Mark, has acknowledged the impact of the recent defection of former Anambra governor, Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, but vowed that the development will spur them to work harder.

The party chairman also assured Nigerians that the party will present credible candidates with capacity to win elections in 2027.

Speaking on Wednesday at the party’s secretariat in Abuja while addressing members of the Forum of ADC Former and Serving Federal Lawmakers, Mark expressed confidence that the challenges faced by the party would ultimately strengthen its resolve and propel it to victory at the polls.

Commenting on the exit of Obi, as well as former Kano State Governor Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, Mark said, “No doubt, the exit of Obi and Kwankwaso has its impact, but it will spur us to work harder.”

Earlier, the National Publicity Secretary of the ADC, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, said the party is not disturbed by the defections of lawmakers from the party, insisting that its core structures remain intact.

Abdullahi accused the departing lawmakers of merely following individuals they believe will secure their electoral victories.

He said, “The people who left followed their idols whom they believe would help them win elections. We wish them good luck, but the core structures of our party remain intact.”
