The Bauchi State Sharia Commission, commonly known as Hisbah, has apprehended seven men following an investigation into an alleged wife-swapping ring operating within the state capital. 

The arrests were made during a targeted raid after the commission received intelligence regarding “un-Islamic” activities and immoral conduct that reportedly contravene the state’s Sharia legal framework.

Authorities revealed that the suspects were allegedly involved in a clandestine arrangement where they exchanged spouses for sexual purposes. This practice, described by officials as a gross violation of both religious tenets and local cultural values, had reportedly been ongoing for some time before being flagged by concerned residents who alerted the commission.

Speaking on the development, officials from the Bauchi Hisbah Command emphasized that such behavior undermines the sanctity of marriage and the moral fabric of the society. The commission noted that it is currently conducting thorough interrogations to determine the extent of the network and whether other individuals are involved in the syndicate.

The suspects are expected to be charged to a Sharia court once preliminary investigations are concluded. Meanwhile, the Hisbah command has reiterated its commitment to sanitizing the state of social vices and has urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities that threaten the moral standards of the community.
