Seriake Dickson Dismisses Smear Campaigns, Affirms Legal Standing of Newly Formed NDC
Senator Seriake Dickson has urged Nigerians to disregard what he termed as “malicious propaganda” surrounding the registration and activities of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
The former Bayelsa State Governor emphasized that the party is a legitimate political entity focused on providing a viable alternative for the country’s democratic future.
In a statement addressing recent controversies, Dickson clarified that the NDC has followed all constitutional and legal requirements mandated by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). He dismissed claims that the party was being used as a “front” or was embroiled in insurmountable legal hurdles, describing such narratives as the work of political detractors.
The Senator noted that the influx of prominent leaders and citizens into the NDC is evidence of its growing acceptance. He argued that the panic among rival political camps has led to a coordinated smear campaign aimed at confusing the electorate and devaluing the party’s momentum.
Dickson called on supporters to remain steadfast and not be distracted by “fake news” circulating on social media. He stressed that the NDC is committed to internal democracy and inclusivity, unlike other platforms currently plagued by leadership crises.
Furthermore, he highlighted that the party’s focus remains on addressing the pressing socio-economic challenges facing Nigerians. According to Dickson, the NDC is currently building a robust structure across the 36 states to ensure it is fully prepared for the next electoral cycle.
He concluded by urging the media and the public to verify information through official party channels. He reiterated that the NDC is here to stay and will continue to operate with transparency, despite the attempts by opposition elements to stall its progress.
