Suspected Kidnapper Shot Dead in Abuja Estate

A suspected kidnapper has been shot dead at Army Post Service Housing Estate, Kurudu, Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The deceased was part of a 7-man gang that invaded the estate around 8:47pm on Thursday.

It was gathered that the kidnappers, upon gaining entry into the estate, started shooting sporadically. This was said to have attracted the attention of the military at the entrance gate, who also responded immediately.

A resident who lives close to the Army Estate, Michael Moses, told our reporter by telephone that the military and operatives of the Kurudu police division engaged the kidnappers in a shootout, which led to the death of one of them.

According to him, the military and the police successfully foiled the abduction of a business tycoon who resides in the estate.

He said the corpse of the suspected kidnapper was taken away by the police.

When contacted, FCT Police Command Spokesperson, SP Adeh Josephine, confirmed the incident. She replied to our reporter by text message that the police are investigating the incident.l
