Senator Marafa Defects from ADC to NDC in Zamfara
Senator Kabiru Marafa has dumped the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and joined the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
This is his second major defection in a short period. He had earlier left the All Progressives Congress (APC) due to internal disagreements before moving to the ADC.
The move comes after Marafa was reportedly denied the governorship ticket in the ADC. He is planning to contest for the position of governor in Zamfara State in the 2027 election. Sources say he has now been assured of the ticket in the NDC, making the switch more attractive for him.
Senator Marafa is a well known politician in Zamfara with significant influence. His latest defection highlights the fluid nature of politics in the state. Many believe he wants to position himself strongly for the governorship race.
This development is expected to shake up the political calculations in Zamfara ahead of the next elections. Other politicians and parties will now be watching closely to see how this affects the balance of power in the state.
As more politicians continue to change parties, many Nigerians see it as a sign of self-interest rather than commitment to any particular ideology. Senator Marafa’s move adds to the growing list of high profile defections in the country.
