Former Abia State Governor and current Senator, Orji Uzor Kalu, has announced that President Bola Tinubu has entrusted him with the responsibility of coordinating the activities of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State.

Kalu, who chairs the Senate Committee on the South East Development Commission, shared the update following a meeting with the President at the State House in Abuja.

In a statement posted on his official Facebook page, the senator expressed his gratitude to the President for the confidence placed in him. He described the assignment as a “marching order” to oversee the party’s operations in the state, positioning it as a pivotal development for the APC as it seeks to strengthen its political influence in the South-East region.

Kalu outlined his primary objectives as fostering party cohesion, engaging with key stakeholders, and ensuring electoral readiness. Identifying himself as the “most senior governor” in the state, he emphasized his commitment to collaborating with all party members to produce candidates who are united and capable of securing victory for the party in future contests, including supporting the President’s re-election efforts.

The senator’s appointment is viewed as a strategic maneuver to unify the party structure in Abia, where internal divisions and robust opposition have historically complicated electoral outcomes.
