Veteran Actor Fatomilola Recounts Surprise ₦1 Million Alert From Mr Macaroni

Veteran Nollywood actor, Peter Fatomilola has opened up on an unforgettable act of generosity from skit maker and content creator Debo Adebayo, popularly known as Mr Macaroni, revealing that a chance encounter on a movie set ended with a surprise ₦1 million bank alert.

Speaking in a recent interview with Africa List, Fatomilola recounted how the pair first crossed paths after a shoot in Ibadan, Oyo State.

He had wrapped up two scenes for a separate production and was paid ₦50,000 for his work. As he prepared to head home, Mr Macaroni walked up to him, checked that he was done for the day, and personally escorted him to his car before handing him ₦200,000 for transport, an amount that dwarfed what he had earned from the actual job.

The gesture didn’t stop there. Fatomilola said Mr Macaroni later called him up for another project, this time without any discussion of payment beforehand.

He arrived on set only to discover he had been booked for a single scene, one that also featured Nollywood icon Pete Edochie. He brought along his son and grandson, who ended up receiving ₦100,000 and ₦50,000 respectively from Mr Macaroni before the shoot even wrapped.

According to Fatomilola, once filming was done, Edochie told him he was pleased with his performance, and the group left the set for Lekki without any fee having been negotiated.

It was only once they got there that Fatomilola checked his account and discovered the content creator had transferred a full ₦1 million his way for the single appearance. “I asked how much he sent. One million naira,” he recalled.

The story adds to a growing list of testimonials to Mr Macaroni’s generosity within the Nigerian entertainment industry, with other figures, including actresses Biola Bayo and Halima Abubakar, previously crediting him with quiet acts of financial support behind the scenes.

For Fatomilola, a theatre veteran whose career stretches back to 1967 and includes stints alongside Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka and a teaching career at Obafemi Awolowo University, the encounter stood out as a rare and unexpected reward, one he has been eager to share credit for publicly.
