ADC Demands Probe of ₦33.75 Billion Transfers, Alleges Irregularities in Social Intervention Scheme

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has called for a thorough investigation into the ₦33.75 billion cash transfers recently flagged in an audit report, alleging serious irregularities in the implementation of a federal social intervention programme.

The party said the audit findings raise concerns about transparency and accountability in the management of funds intended to support vulnerable Nigerians.

According to the ADC, questions surrounding the verification of beneficiaries and the disbursement process must be addressed to ensure public confidence in government welfare programmes.

The party urged relevant anti-corruption and oversight agencies to investigate the transactions and determine whether established financial procedures were followed.

ADC officials argued that social intervention initiatives should be managed with strict accountability measures to ensure that assistance reaches the intended beneficiaries.

The party also called for the publication of relevant records and the identification of any officials found to have breached financial regulations.

It maintained that effective oversight of public spending is necessary to protect public resources and improve the delivery of government support programmes.

The call comes amid increasing public scrutiny of audit findings relating to government expenditure and social welfare initiatives across the country.
