APC Chair Yilwatda Warns Against Division in North, Backs Tinubu’s Agenda

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has called for unity among political stakeholders in Northern Nigeria, warning that self-serving politicians could derail President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic and infrastructure development agenda.

Yilwatda made the appeal amid growing political tensions in parts of the region, stressing that disunity and narrow political interests pose a serious threat to ongoing reforms aimed at revitalising the North’s economy.

According to him, the Tinubu administration has initiated key policies and projects designed to drive growth in critical sectors such as infrastructure, agriculture, and energy. He noted that these efforts are intended to improve livelihoods, create jobs, and strengthen the region’s role in national development.

The APC chairman cautioned that political actors prioritising personal ambition over collective progress risk undermining these gains. He described the current period as crucial, urging leaders across the North to close ranks and support policies that will deliver long-term benefits to the people.

Yilwatda also emphasised the strategic importance of the North in Nigeria’s economic future, pointing to its vast land resources, population, and position as a gateway to neighbouring countries.

He said unity among stakeholders would help maximise these advantages and ensure that government interventions translate into tangible outcomes.

He further called on traditional rulers, youth groups, and civil society organisations to promote peace and collaboration, noting that sustainable development can only be achieved in a stable and united environment.
