JAMB Adjusts Arrival Time for 2026 UTME
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has changed the arrival time for candidates taking the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
Candidates are now required to arrive at their examination centres earlier than before. This adjustment is meant to ensure a smooth and orderly conduct of the exam across the country.
According to the new schedule, candidates for the morning session must arrive by 7:00 AM, while those for the afternoon session should be at the centre by 1:00 PM. JAMB explained that the change will give enough time for proper screening, biometric verification, and seating arrangements before the exam starts. The board wants to avoid the usual last-minute rush and delays that often occur during examinations.
This update applies to all candidates across Nigeria. JAMB has advised parents, guardians, and candidates to take note of the new arrival times and plan their journeys accordingly.
The board also warned that latecomers will not be allowed into the examination hall once the gates are closed.
The adjustment is part of JAMB’s ongoing efforts to make the UTME process more efficient and fair for everyone. In previous years, many candidates complained about overcrowding and delays at the centres. The new arrival schedule is expected to reduce these problems and create a better environment for the candidates to perform well.
JAMB has urged all candidates to print their examination slips early and confirm their centres and times. The board also reminded candidates to come with only approved items and to follow all examination rules strictly. Any form of malpractice will lead to disqualification.
This change shows JAMB’s commitment to improving the standard of its examinations. As the 2026 UTME approaches, candidates and schools are advised to prepare adequately and adhere to the new guidelines. With these adjustments, many hope the examination will run more smoothly and give every candidate a fair chance.
