SERAP has urged President Bola Tinubu to probe the alleged disappearance of ₦2.9 billion from NIGCOMSAT and the NNRA. The group issued a seven-day ultimatum for an explanation, warning of potential legal action.
The claims follow a 2025 Auditor-General’s report detailing a ₦465 million unauthorized investment by NIGCOMSAT. This transaction allegedly lacked the required approvals from the Accountant-General and the Ministry of Science and Technology.
Audit findings also show NIGCOMSAT failed to remit ₦507 million in revenue to the federal treasury. Other flagged issues include irregular staff payments, undelivered store items, and suspicious ₦84 million account transfers.
The NNRA was similarly indicted for spending ₦4.35 million on suspicious training and ₦16.7 million on unauthorized ICT equipment. Additionally, ₦33.4 million was reportedly paid for goods that were never delivered to the agency.
Further lapses at the NNRA involve ₦6.5 million in unretired cash advances and ₦2 million for unverified foreign training. SERAP noted these failures are particularly concerning given the agency’s role in nuclear safety.
The organization is demanding the prosecution of responsible parties and the full recovery of funds. SERAP maintained that such mismanagement undermines national security, technological growth, and public trust in government institutions.
