The Rivers State Police Command has arrested 24-year-old Otamiri Prince for the alleged kidnapping and rape of a female job seeker.

The suspect reportedly met the victim online, highlighting the dangers associated with digital interactions and unverified job opportunities.

According to the police report, the victim, identified as 24-year-old Alice Thomas, initially met the suspect on an online platform. After establishing a connection, they agreed to meet in person on January 3, 2026, at a designated location in Port Harcourt.

Upon her arrival, the victim was lured to Igwuruta by the suspect and his accomplices. From there, she was forcibly taken to a secluded bush in the Ulakwo area of Etche Local Government Area, where the group held her captive.

While in the bush, the victim was subjected to physical assault and sexual molestation. The perpetrators also robbed her of her valuables, including her iPhone and other personal belongings, before eventually releasing her from captivity.

The incident was officially reported to the police on April 11, 2026. Following the report, operatives utilized technology-driven strategies under the direction of the state’s security leadership to track down and successfully apprehend Otamiri Prince.

During interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime. Police recovered several items from him, including an iPhone and a wig believed to belong to the victim, which will serve as exhibits when the suspect is eventually charged to court.

In light of the incident, the Rivers Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, warned the public to be cautious when meeting strangers from the internet.

He urged job seekers to verify identities and choose public locations for meetings to avoid falling victim to such crimes.
