Enlist in Nigerian Army, Delta State Government Urges Youths

The Delta State Government has called on young people in the state to enlist in the Nigerian Army. The appeal aims to encourage more youths to build a career in the military and serve their country. Officials believe this is a good opportunity for young men and women to gain skills, discipline, and stable employment.

This call comes at a time when the Nigerian Army continues to fight insecurity in different parts of the country. The government sees the military as a noble profession that can help reduce unemployment among youths while strengthening national security. Many young people in Delta are being invited to take advantage of this chance.

However, the announcement has received mixed reactions online. Some youths welcome the opportunity, especially those looking for jobs. Others are not convinced, pointing out the risks involved in military service, including poor welfare, inadequate equipment, and the dangers of facing bandits and insurgents.

A common criticism is that many leaders encourage other people’s children to join the army while keeping their own children away from it. Critics say governors and top officials often send their kids to better opportunities abroad or in safe, high-paying jobs instead of the military. They want leaders to lead by example.

Despite the concerns, the Delta State Government maintains that joining the army offers structure, training, and a chance to contribute to peace in Nigeria. The military provides education, skills, and a monthly salary, though many argue the pay is too low compared to the risks soldiers face daily.

As the conversation continues, many young Nigerians are weighing their options. While some may consider enlisting, others demand better conditions for soldiers before more youths are encouraged to join. The call from Delta has sparked important talks about youth employment, security, and the true value placed on military service in the country.
