Ugandan Traveller Commends Improved Experience at Lagos Airport
A Ugandan traveller, Simpo Gladys, has expressed surprise at noticeable improvements at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, saying the facility appears significantly transformed compared to her visit two years ago.
In a video shared on X, Gladys described a more organised environment and commended what she observed as increased professionalism among airport staff during her arrival in Lagos.
She said the changes were evident immediately, noting that she had previously struggled to navigate the airport but found the experience smoother on her recent visit.
The traveller also highlighted what she described as the absence of extortion, recalling that during her earlier trip, some officials demanded money including foreign currency before assisting with luggage.
According to her, no such requests were made this time.
Gladys added that airport personnel were helpful and welcoming without seeking any form of gratification, a shift she said left a strong impression on her.
She further observed ongoing infrastructure changes at the airport, stating that the terminal she used during her previous visit had been demolished and was being replaced, which she viewed as part of broader efforts to modernise aviation facilities in Nigeria.
Reacting to the video, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, acknowledged the improvements but noted that more work remains. He stated that efforts are ongoing to further enhance operations and passenger experience at the country’s airports.
