Kwara Governor Presents Staff of Office to Newly Appointed Ganmo Monarch

The Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has officially presented a third-class staff of office to the newly appointed Oniganmo of Ganmo, Oba Kamaldeen.

The presentation ceremony, held on Thursday, April 9, 2026, marks the end of a long-standing administrative delay and brings formal traditional leadership to the Ganmo community in Ifelodun Local Government Area.

Represented at the event, the Governor congratulated the new monarch and emphasized that the staff of office is a symbol of authority that should be used to foster unity. He noted that his administration remains committed to upholding the sanctity of traditional institutions, ensuring that they serve as the primary bridge between the grassroots and the government to facilitate sustainable development.

The coronation follows years of anticipation and recent appeals from socio-cultural groups, including the Omo Ibile Igbomina, who urged the completion of the formal appointment process.

By presenting the official letter and staff of office, the state government has addressed the leadership vacuum that existed since the passing of the previous monarch, seeking to stabilize the traditional hierarchy in the region.

Addressing the subjects of the Ganmo community, Governor AbdulRazaq called for total support for the new ruler. He stressed that no meaningful progress can be achieved in an atmosphere of discord, urging all ruling houses and stakeholders to set aside past differences and work collectively toward the economic and social elevation of the town.

In his acceptance speech, Oba Kamaldeen expressed profound gratitude to the state government and the people of Ganmo for the trust reposed in him. The monarch pledged to rule with justice and compassion, promising to prioritize peace-building efforts and to mobilize his subjects in support of the government’s policies and infrastructural programs.
