Northern Governors Lead Tributes To Late Kebbi Lawmaker
The Northern States Governors’ Forum has expressed deep sorrow over the death of the Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Muhammad Usman Zuru, who died in the early hours of Tuesday in Egypt.
Chairman of the forum and Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, described the death as a significant loss to Kebbi State, the northern region and Nigeria’s legislative community.
In a condolence message conveyed through his Director-General of Press Affairs, Ismaila Uba Misilli, Yahaya said the late Speaker’s passing was both painful and monumental.
He noted that Zuru played a key role in governance, describing him as a committed lawmaker and a stabilising figure who served with dedication, wisdom and humility.
According to the governor, the late Speaker left a lasting impact on democratic development through his service and loyalty to the progress of Kebbi State.
Yahaya extended condolences on behalf of the forum to the Governor of Kebbi State, Nasir Idris, the deceased’s family, members of the state House of Assembly and the Zuru Emirate Council.
He also offered prayers for the repose of the late Speaker’s soul, asking for forgiveness of his shortcomings and eternal rest.
