Myitura Launches Women-focused Healthcare Financing Solution

Health-tech platform Myitura has introduced a women-focused healthcare financing solution powered by Mediloan, aimed at improving access to affordable medical services for women across Nigeria.

The initiative, unveiled to coincide with Women’s Month, was launched alongside a white paper titled “Closing the Gap: Healthcare Financing for Women in Nigeria,” which highlights key barriers limiting women’s access to timely healthcare.

The report identified high out-of-pocket costs, low insurance coverage, and socio-economic challenges as major obstacles, noting that over 70 per cent of healthcare expenses in Nigeria are paid directly by individuals. It added that women are disproportionately affected, often delaying treatment due to financial pressures and competing family responsibilities.

According to the findings, delayed medical care frequently leads to the worsening of preventable conditions, while improved access to structured and affordable financing could enhance early diagnosis and preventive healthcare outcomes.

Chief of Staff at Myitura, Chialuka Kelechi, said enabling women to access healthcare early would not only save lives but also strengthen families, communities and the broader economy.

As part of efforts to address the gap, the company rolled out healthcare packages tailored for women, starting at ₦58,180. The plans provide access to a range of diagnostic services, including blood sugar tests, urinalysis, electrolyte checks, urea and creatinine assessments, Pap smear screening, HIV and hepatitis tests and abdominopelvic ultrasound scans.

Users will also benefit from ongoing support through the Myitura digital platform, with access to the packages available via its mobile application.

Myitura said the initiative forms part of its broader strategy to expand healthcare access in Nigeria by leveraging digital technology and innovative financing models to reduce barriers to essential medical services.
