The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kano State recently arrested 20 foreign nationals in the Danbare area of Kumbotso Local Government Area. The suspects were apprehended following a coordinated operation based on credible intelligence.
The group includes individuals from Sudan, Chad, and other neighboring countries. State NSCDC Commandant, Mohammed Agalama, officially confirmed the arrests during a news conference held on Tuesday.
Preliminary investigations revealed that none of the individuals could provide valid travel documents or identification. This has raised significant concerns regarding their mode of entry into Nigeria and their specific activities within the state.
During the operation, security operatives recovered ten Android phones from the suspects. These devices are being examined as part of the ongoing investigation into the group’s presence in the region.
The NSCDC is currently profiling the suspects to determine their exact mission and any possible links to criminal activities. Relevant government agencies have been notified to ensure the matter is handled according to extant laws.
In light of the arrests, the Command reiterated its commitment to protecting national assets and internal security. They also urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies promptly.
