NMA Accuses Blessing CEO of Forging Cancer Report, Defrauding Nigerians
The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has accused social media personality Blessing Okoro, popularly known as Blessing CEO, of deceiving the public with a forged medical report and allegedly defrauding unsuspecting Nigerians.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the association said the breast cancer report being circulated by the influencer was fake and did not originate from any legitimate medical process involving her. According to the NMA, the document actually belongs to another patient identified as Mbara Deborah.
The association alleged that the report was fraudulently altered and presented by Blessing CEO as evidence of a personal battle with breast cancer, a claim that drew widespread sympathy and financial support from the public.
The document being paraded is forged and was originally issued to another individual,” the NMA stated, warning Nigerians against falling victim to deceptive tactics involving sensitive health information.
The controversy began after Blessing CEO publicly claimed she was diagnosed with advanced breast cancer and solicited financial assistance for treatment. However, discrepancies in the medical report sparked suspicion, leading to further scrutiny by medical professionals and the eventual intervention of the NMA.
The association condemned the act, describing it as unethical and a serious breach of trust, particularly given the emotional and financial implications such claims have on the public. It also called on relevant authorities to investigate the matter and ensure accountability, stressing that falsification of medical records undermines the integrity of the healthcare system.
The development has triggered widespread reactions on social media, with many Nigerians expressing outrage and demanding justice, while some donors have begun calling for refunds. The NMA reiterated its commitment to upholding professionalism within the medical field and warned that misuse of medical documents for personal gain would not be tolerated.
