Stop Blaming Tinubu for Your Woes, APC Chieftain Tells ADC

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has cautioned leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) against blaming President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the party’s internal crisis.

In a statement issued on Monday, Oyintiloye described the allegations against the president as inaccurate, urging the ADC leadership, reportedly led by David Mark, to address issues within the party rather than attributing them to external factors.

He said the president has no role in the legal disputes affecting the party, noting that the matter is currently before the court following a suit filed by a party member.

According to him, decisions regarding the party’s leadership structure stem from judicial pronouncements, not executive actions, stressing that the president is neither a court of law nor involved in the processes that led to the situation.

Oyintiloye also pointed out that the stance of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to withhold recognition of any faction within the ADC pending the resolution of the case is based on existing legal proceedings.

He advised the opposition party to resolve its internal disagreements and avoid what he described as attempts to shift blame, adding that adherence to due process is essential in political engagements.

Reacting to concerns about a possible one-party system, Oyintiloye said multiple political parties remain registered and are expected to participate in future elections, including the ADC.

He further urged opposition figures to refrain from spreading misinformation and focus on internal reforms, maintaining that political criticism should not replace efforts to strengthen party structures.
