Okpebholo Urges Prayers, Support for Edo Development Agenda

Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has called on residents to continue praying for and supporting his administration to sustain infrastructure and human capital development across the state.

The appeal was made on Monday during the 2026 Easter programme themed “The Risen Christ and the Risen Edo State,” held at the Government House Chapel in Benin City.

Represented by his Special Adviser on Women in Christ, Pastor Aburime-Walter Iziegbe, the governor said the message of Christ’s death and resurrection reflects the foundation for ongoing development efforts and renewed hope in the state.

She described the period as one of restoration and faith, urging residents to continue interceding for the administration to achieve greater progress.

The Chaplain of Government House Chapel, Apostle Sule Azekhumen, said the Easter celebration symbolises transformation and growth, adding that the current administration’s vision aligns with principles of renewal and progress.

According to him, the programme also served as an opportunity to appreciate what he described as achievements recorded over the past year, noting that the state is advancing with clearer direction and stability.

Guest speaker, Apostle Favour Mopa-Awom, in his message titled “He Rose To Break Barriers That You Might Rise,” said the resurrection of Jesus Christ signifies victory over limitations and offers hope to believers facing challenges.

Prayers were offered during the service for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the nation’s security situation, peace in Edo State and guidance for the governor and his cabinet.

Easter is observed globally to mark the resurrection of Jesus Christ, forming the climax of the Lenten season.
