Bandits Kill 3 Police Officers in Katsina Attack Katsina
Tragedy struck Katsina State on Easter Sunday as bandits launched fresh attacks on the Tangani and Sayaya communities within the Musawa and Matazu Local Government Areas.
The violent invasion resulted in the reported deaths of at least three police officers who were caught in the line of duty.
The news of the deadly assault was brought to light by Lawal Batagarawa, a former Minister of State for Education and a leader of the African Democratic Congress (ADC). While addressing journalists, he confirmed that the killings occurred even as information about the raids was still unfolding.
During the coordinated strikes, the bandits also targeted critical infrastructure, including a Primary Health Care Centre and various local businesses.
Governor Dikko Radda later visited the affected areas to assess the extensive damage and commiserate with the traumatized residents and the police command.
Batagarawa expressed deep sorrow over the incident, describing the persistent insecurity as a “sad everyday reality” for many Northern states. He extended his condolences to the families of the fallen officers and the townspeople who lost their lives or livelihoods in the attack.
The ADC leader used the opportunity to criticize the government’s handling of national security, urging both federal and state authorities to fulfill their primary duty of protecting lives. He warned that without adequate safety, society risks collapsing into a state of total anarchy.
In response to the tragedy, Governor Radda has ordered the immediate deployment of additional security personnel to the region to prevent further violence. As of the report, official confirmation of the total casualty count from the police headquarters is still being awaited.
