Atiku Faults Tinubu Over Fresh Attacks, Demands Action

Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has taken aim at President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over ongoing attacks in parts of the country, urging him to make good on his earlier assurance that such incidents would not recur.

The criticism comes in the wake of fresh violence reported in Benue State, Nasarawa State and Kaduna State, just days after the president told victims of the Jos killings that a repeat would be prevented.

In a statement shared on X on Monday, Atiku said recent developments suggest the president’s pledge has not been met.

He referenced the attack in Angwan Rukuba, noting that another deadly incident occurred in Benue within 72 hours, resulting in multiple fatalities.

The former vice-president called on the president, in his capacity as Commander-in-Chief, to respond more decisively to the security situation.

He also raised concerns over reported threats and displacement in parts of Nasarawa, where residents were said to have fled their homes, as well as a separate attack in Kaduna over the weekend.

Atiku stressed that safeguarding lives and property is the foremost duty of government and urged the administration to take concrete steps rather than rely on assurances.

He further expressed sympathy for those affected by the violence, extending condolences to families who lost loved ones.
