Navy Commander Urges Personnel to Uphold Sacrifice, Dedication at Easter

The Commander of Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Delta, Commodore Shehu Tasiu, has urged naval personnel to remain steadfast in their commitment to service, calling on them to uphold the spirit of sacrifice and dedication associated with the Easter season.

Tasiu made the call during an Easter message delivered to officers, ratings, and civilian staff at the naval base in Warri, where he emphasised that the season symbolises sacrifice, love and forgiveness—values he said align with the core responsibilities of military service.

He noted that personnel of the Nigerian Navy are often required to make personal sacrifices in the line of duty, adding that their efforts are critical to maintaining national security and safeguarding maritime interests.

The commander also commended the resilience and professionalism of naval personnel, especially those deployed away from their families during the festive period. He urged them to remain vigilant and committed to their duties despite the challenges of service.

Tasiu further appreciated the support of host communities in the Niger Delta, stressing that collaboration between the Navy and local residents has contributed significantly to the fight against crude oil theft, illegal activities, and insecurity in the region.

He called for continued cooperation, encouraging community members to provide credible information that would assist naval operations and enhance security across the waterways.

The Easter message reflects a broader theme within Nigeria’s Armed Forces, as senior military leaders across the country have also used the occasion to encourage troops to remain dedicated, while honoring the sacrifices of fallen heroes and reinforcing the importance of unity and professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
