UCA Backs NYSC Exclusion of Niger Republic Graduates

The Union of Concerned Academics (UCA) supports the Federal Government’s exclusion of certain Niger Republic graduates from the NYSC. They clarified that the ban is due to these institutions lacking proper accreditation.

UCA Chairman, Dr. Ayanlola Ayanyimika countered claims of unfair treatment from NANS. He stated the affected schools are notofficially recognized by Niger Republic’s quality assurance authorities.

The group praised the Ministry of Education for upholding academic standards. They insisted that no certificate should be recognized unless it follows established international and regulatory procedures.

Verified lists from the Nigeria- Niger Joint Commission helped confirm which schools are legitimate. This cooperation aims to curb misinformation and protect the integrity of the education system.

Students were advised to hold their schools accountable for failing to secure accreditation. The UCA noted that schools must meet local standards before seeking international recognition.

The union warned against making Nigeria a dumping ground for fake degrees. They maintained that academic legitimacy must always take precedence over emotional or political pressure.
