President Tinubu Storms Jos Following Plateau Massacre
President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Jos to offer condolences following the recent tragic killings in Plateau State.
He notably postponed a scheduled trip to Ogun State to prioritize this visit to the grieving community.
The visit follows a Sunday night massacre where gunmen killed at least 28 people. In response to the escalating violence, Governor Caleb Mutfwang imposed a 24-hour curfew on Jos North to restore order.
Governor Mutfwang described the killings as a calculated act of terrorism. He noted that the President felt a personal visit was essential to show “love and affection” to the mourning people of Plateau.
Tinubu condemned the perpetrators as heartless cowards and directed security agencies to track them down. He emphasized that his administration will not tolerate such barbaric acts or cycles of reprisal.
The Inspector-General of Police has deployed additional tactical teams to the state. These units aim to secure vulnerable communities and prevent hoodlums from exploiting the current security vacuum.
Addressing the gravity of the attacks, President Tinubu stated, “Anyone who will sneak under the cover of the night and kill defenceless citizens as done in Jos and Kahir village is a heartless coward.”
