Tinubu Appoints New PTDF Boss, Renews TCN MD’s Tenure

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Professor Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu as the new Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF).

The appointment follows the resignation of the immediate past Executive Secretary, Ahmed Galadima Aminu, who stepped down to contest the 2027 governorship election in Adamawa State.

In a related development, President Tinubu also renewed the tenure of Engineer Sule Ahmed Abdulaziz as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) for a second and final term. Both appointments take immediate effect.

Professor Aliyu is described as a distinguished academic and experienced administrator with a strong background in research, education, and institutional leadership. His appointment, according to the presidency, reflects the administration’s commitment to strengthening key institutions in the petroleum sector and boosting human capital development in Nigeria’s energy industry.

President Tinubu charged the new PTDF boss to leverage his experience to reposition the agency for greater impact in innovation, capacity development, and strategic support for the oil and gas sector in line with national priorities.

The President renewed Abdulaziz’s tenure following a review of his performance at the helm of the nation’s transmission network. Under his leadership, the TCN has recorded improvements in grid stability, expansion of transmission capacity, and system modernization, reinforcing its role in Nigeria’s power sector.

Engr. Abdulaziz, who brings over three decades of experience in the power industry, has also contributed to strengthening regional electricity integration through his role in the West African Power Pool (WAPP).

President Tinubu urged both appointees to carry out their duties with diligence, integrity, and a strong sense of national service in line with his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
