NFF Inaugurates Electoral, Appeals Committees Ahead of September Polls
In a decisive move toward ensuring a transparent transition of power, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) officially inaugurated its Electoral Committee and Electoral Appeals Committee today, Thursday, April 2, 2026.
The ceremony, held at the NFF Secretariat in Abuja, was presided over by NFF President Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau. This milestone signals the formal commencement of the roadmap leading to the elective congress scheduled for later this year.
The inauguration follows the resolutions of the Extraordinary General Assembly held last week in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, where the congress approved amendments to the NFF Statutes and Electoral Code. These updates are designed to streamline the voting process and enhance the credibility of the upcoming polls.
The primary objective of these committees is to oversee the elections into the NFF Executive Committee, which are slated to take place in Lafia, Nasarawa State, on Saturday, September 26, 2026.
A total of 12 legal and administrative experts were sworn in to manage the process. The NFF has emphasized that these individuals were selected based on their track records of integrity and professional merit.

Mandate and Oversight
The Electoral Committee is responsible for the organization, screening of candidates, and supervision of the ballot process. Their work will be strictly guided by the March 2026 NFF Statutes and Electoral Code.
The Electoral Appeals Committee stands as the judicial body to hear and resolve any disputes or grievances arising from the screening or the conduct of the elections, ensuring that the process remains transparent and legally sound.
With these bodies now active, the NFF has officially entered the “election season,” providing a clear roadmap for stakeholders and aspirants aiming for positions on the Executive Committee.
