Residents of Bukuru Low-cost in Plateau State were thrown into mourning Tuesday after a woman’s body was found. The corpse was discovered dumped in a local river, sparking widespread shock.
A viral video showed residents gathering at the riverbank to pull the body from the water. The graphic scene drew a large, outraged crowd to the site.
Resident Tina Gabriel confirmed the suspected murder, describing the act as “terrible.” She expressed disbelief that anyone could kill a person and dispose of them in public.
Another resident called for urgent justice and the immediate arrest of those responsible. He urged authorities to investigate thoroughly and identify the victim to ensure punishment.
Police officers arrived at the scene to recover the body and transport it to the mortuary. A formal examination will now determine the woman’s identity and cause of death.
The state police spokesperson has not yet issued an official statement on the investigation. This follows a similar recent incident involving abandoned remains in a nearby area.
