Israeli Military Targets Iranian Naval Weapons Facility in Tehran
The Israeli military said on Saturday that it carried out an airstrike on an industrial complex in Tehran linked to the research and development of naval weapons, as part of a broader wave of attacks conducted overnight between Friday and Saturday.
In a statement, the military said the facility serves as the headquarters of Iran’s Marine Industries Organization, which is responsible for developing and producing a range of naval equipment. These include surface and underwater vessels, both manned and unmanned systems, as well as engines and weaponry.
Later in the day, the military announced it had escalated its operations against Iran’s military infrastructure, particularly targeting defense production facilities.
Speaking during a televised briefing, military spokesman Brigadier General Effie Defrin said the ongoing campaign aims to significantly weaken Iran’s military manufacturing capacity within days.
He stated that most of the country’s military production capabilities would be destroyed, adding that rebuilding them would take a considerable amount of time.
The latest strikes form part of a wider offensive that began on February 28, involving joint operations by the United States and Israel. Since the start of the conflict, several Iranian nuclear facilities have also been targeted, including a uranium processing site and a heavy water reactor.
