Ajayi Emerges NANS JCC Lagos Chairman After Tie-Break Vote
The chairmanship election of the National Association of Nigerian Students Joint Campus Council in Lagos State ended in a deadlock on Saturday, with the convention chairman casting a deciding vote to determine the winner.
The election, held at the Federal College of Education Technical, Akoka, concluded with both leading candidates securing five votes each, according to a statement issued by the convention chairman, Sanni Sulaimon.
The statement said delegates from tertiary institutions across the state participated in the exercise, which observers described as orderly, transparent and credible.
With the contest tied between Ridwan Ajayi and Odewumi Quadri, Sulaimon exercised his constitutional authority to break the tie, declaring Ajayi as the duly elected chairman of NANS JCC Lagos.
He noted that the process followed established constitutional guidelines and upheld democratic principles to ensure fairness and legitimacy.
Security personnel, including operatives of the Department of State Services and officers from the Sabo Police Station, were present at the venue to maintain order throughout the election.
The statement added that Ajayi’s emergence marks a new phase for the student body, raising expectations for inclusive leadership, effective representation and stronger advocacy for students across Lagos State.
