Nigeria Has No True Opposition, Says Fani Kayode, Slams ADC
By Rachel Akper
Former Minister of Aviation Femi Fani‑Kayode (FFK) has criticized Nigeria’s opposition parties, describing the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as a group of politicians “desperate for power” rather than a legitimate opposition.
Fani‑Kayode said, “I don’t see ADC as an opposition party: I see them as an association of people that are desperate for power.
Individuals that are discredited, individuals that have no hope in hell of moving this nation forward.”
He argued that Nigeria’s opposition has “collapsed,” blaming internal divisions and lack of focus for its inability to challenge the government effectively.
“How can they keep the Government on its toes when they are busy bickering amongst themselves, fighting amongst themselves and they are fast asleep in bed snoring!” Fani‑Kayode added.
His comments have sparked debate over the role of opposition parties in Nigeria, particularly as political tensions rise ahead of the 2027 elections.
