KwaraPoly Students Protest Alleged EFCC Operation

Students at Kwara State Polytechnic in Ilorin have staged a loud protest after hearing that operatives from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission were in the area. Many students had just returned to school for a new term when the news spread.

They quickly gathered at the main gate and blocked parts of Old Jebba Road.

The protesting students burned tyres on the road to show their anger. Videos shared online showed scenes of panic on campus, including one where an officer appeared to be chasing a student. This made many students feel scared and restless. The protest brought normal activities at the polytechnic to a stop for some time.

The students were unhappy about the reported presence of EFCC officials near their school. They felt it disrupted their studies and created unnecessary fear. Some claimed the operation was targeting people without clear reasons, which added to the tension.

School officials and security teams worked to calm the situation. The protest highlighted the worries many young people have when law enforcement agencies carry out operations around learning environments. Students want to focus on their education without sudden disturbances.

This incident at KwaraPoly shows how quickly things can turn tense when rumours of anti-crime operations spread. It remains to be seen how the school and authorities will handle the matter to restore peace and allow students to continue their studies safely.
