APC National Convention: Fubara Alleges Denial of Nomination Forms Despite Meeting Requirements

by Momodu Favour

A fresh controversy has emerged within the All Progressives Congress (APC) following allegations by Dagogo Fubara that qualified aspirants were denied access to nomination forms ahead of the party’s national convention.

Fubara, who serves as Director-General of the APC States Assembly Forum, made the claims on Tuesday during a live appearance on Prime Time on Arise Television.

Speaking during the interview, Fubara expressed frustration over what he described as an unfair and opaque process, alleging that certain aspirants who had fulfilled all stipulated requirements were deliberately sidelined.

According to him, “We complied with every guideline set by the party. We met the financial obligations, completed documentation, and adhered strictly to timelines, yet we were denied nomination forms without any clear explanation.”

He warned that such actions could undermine internal democracy within the ruling party and erode confidence among its members, particularly at a time when unity is considered crucial ahead of key political activities.

Fubara further called on the party leadership to address the issue urgently, insisting that transparency and fairness must be upheld to maintain credibility. He noted that failure to do so could trigger grievances among loyal party members and potentially lead to internal disputes.

Efforts to get an official response from the APC leadership were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report. However, party insiders suggest that the leadership may respond formally in the coming days.

The development comes amid heightened political activities within the APC as it prepares for its national convention, where critical decisions, including leadership positions and party structure, are expected to be determined.

Political analysts say the allegations, if not promptly addressed, could deepen existing cracks within the party and impact its cohesion moving forward.
