Tinubu’s Inclusiveness Record Earns Support from Igbo Stakeholders
By Momodu Favour
Support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu among sections of the Igbo community has continued to grow, with some stakeholders citing his track record of inclusivity and diverse representation in governance as a key factor.
Speaking on the matter, a supporter noted that among the presidential candidates in Nigeria’s recent political landscape, Tinubu stands out as the most qualified, pointing to his history of fostering unity across ethnic lines.
According to the supporter, Tinubu has consistently demonstrated goodwill toward the Igbo people, earning him the backing of several individuals within the community.
The President’s time as Governor of Lagos State was highlighted as a significant example of this approach.
During his administration, he was known for appointing individuals of Igbo descent into key positions within his cabinet, a move widely interpreted as a commitment to inclusive governance in Nigeria’s most cosmopolitan state.
Similarly, Vice President Kashim Shettima has also been recognized for adopting a comparable approach during his tenure as Governor of Borno State.
His administration reportedly included Igbo representatives, further reinforcing what supporters describe as a broader philosophy of national integration within the current leadership.
Observers note that such actions signal an effort by the present administration to promote unity in a country often shaped by ethnic and regional considerations.
Proponents argue that by incorporating individuals from diverse backgrounds into governance structures, the Tinubu-led government is fostering a sense of belonging among different groups.
While opinions remain divided across Nigeria’s political spectrum, advocates of the administration maintain that its inclusivity record reflects a deliberate strategy to build a more cohesive and representative government.
