Plateau APC Hit by Fresh Defection as Ex-Guber Aspirant John Sura Resigns
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State has been dealt a fresh blow as Brigadier General John Sura (rtd), a former governorship aspirant, officially resigned from the party.
Sura, who had defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC in late 2025, submitted a formal resignation letter to the APC Chairman of Panyam Ward in Mangu Local Government Area, with immediate effect.
In his resignation, the retired army officer thanked party leaders and members for their support, though he did not specify the reasons for his departure. Political analysts suggest that Sura’s exit could signal emerging strains and shifting alliances within Plateau’s political landscape ahead of future elections.
The resignation comes amid ongoing strategic meetings by APC leaders and governors nationwide as the party prepares for upcoming primaries, reflecting the party’s efforts to maintain cohesion amid defections and internal competition.
Sura’s exit underscores the fluid nature of party allegiance in Plateau State and may have significant implications for the APC’s organizational strength in the region.
