Nike Popoola to Launch Book on Nigeria’s Insurance Industry Evolution
Award-winning journalist and Daily Economy Editor, Nike Popoola, will on March 31, 2026, unveil a book examining developments in Nigeria’s insurance industry over the past two decades.
The presentation, scheduled to take place at the Lagos Oriental Hotel, Lagos, forms part of activities marking the second anniversary of Daily Economy Concept, publisher of Daily Economy.
In a statement released on Monday, Popoola said the publication, titled Trends in Nigeria’s Insurance Industry (2005–2025) & Selected Insurance Icons, was inspired by the need to document the sector’s growth and preserve its history.
She noted that the book draws from years of reporting on the insurance industry and provides an account of its transformation into a more significant contributor to the national economy, while also recognising individuals who played key roles in that process.
The publication reviews major policy reforms, regulatory changes, recapitalisation efforts, and contributions of leading figures in the industry within the 20-year period.
The Commissioner for Insurance and Chief Executive Officer of the National Insurance Commission, Olusegun Ayo Omosehin, is expected to deliver the keynote address and formally present the book at the event.
Other dignitaries billed to attend include Chairman of Prestige Insurance Brokers Limited, Prince Feyisayo Soyewo, who will preside over the ceremony, and the Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the African Reinsurance Corporation, Dr. Corneille Karekezi, who will serve as Special Guest of Honour.
Also expected are the President of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria, Yetunde Ilori; Chairman of the Nigerian Insurers Association, Kunle Ahmed; and President of the Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers, Ekeoma Ezeibe.
The publisher of Daily Economy stated that the launch is aimed at contributing to industry knowledge and promoting financial literacy, while also showcasing the growth and prospects of Nigeria’s insurance sector.
According to the publisher, the book is designed to serve a wide audience, including professionals, policymakers, researchers, and students, and features photographic records of key events in the industry over the years.
