Operation Hadin Kai troops have successfully crushed a coordinated attack by ISWAP and Boko Haram in Damasak, Borno State.
The insurgents targeted several military positions within the Mobbar Local Government Area.
The skirmish began around 8:00 p.m. after surveillance teams spotted suspicious movements. The terrorists attempted to infiltrate the town from three directions, including the Gaidam–Choukoku axis and a nearby IDP camp.
Responding with superior firepower, the military promptly engaged the advancing enemy. The intensity of the counter-attack overwhelmed the insurgents, forcing them to abandon their mission and retreat in total disarray.
To secure the perimeter, the Air Component provided critical aerial support. Aircraft conducted reconnaissance missions during and after the clash to monitor the region and track any remaining threats.
Following the encounter, ground troops pursued the fleeing militants into the surrounding wilderness. It was discovered that the terrorists tried to evade capture by hiding within cattle herds and thick vegetation.
The military confirmed the operation was a total success, with no casualties or damage recorded among the troops. Damasak remains secure as security forces maintain a high state of vigilance.
