Unidentified terrorists have reportedly threatened to attack several communities within Kwara South Senatorial District.
This alarming development has sparked significant concern across the three local government areas named as potential targets.
The warning was issued on Saturday by Olaitan Zubair, coordinator of the Joint Security Watch for the district. The group revealed they received intelligence regarding coordinated strikes planned for the immediate future.
According to the report, a potential security breach is scheduled for March 23 in Kwara State. The threat further extends to possible widespread attacks across Yorubaland starting March 28, following the end of Ramadan.
The Joint Security Watch has officially notified high-ranking authorities regarding these specific threats. Alerts were sent to the State Commissioner of Police and the chairmen of Ifelodun, Irepodun, and Isin Local Government Areas.
Olaitan Zubair’s statement emphasized the urgent need for heightened vigilance from both security agencies and the public. The primary goal of the alert is to ensure citizen protection and prevent loss of life.
Local residents are experiencing high anxiety as the dates mentioned in the threat approach. The security group has called for a robust government presence to provide reassurance and deter potential attackers.
At the time of the report, the Kwara State Police Command had not yet provided an official reaction. Efforts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer for comment on preventive measures were unsuccessful.
