Former Anambra NUJ Chairman Nathaniel Anigbo Laid to Rest
Nathaniel Anigbo, a former chairman of the Anambra State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), has been buried in his hometown of Agulu in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State.
Anigbo, who also served as vice chairman of the Agulu People’s Union, was known for his involvement in community development initiatives during his lifetime.
Former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, paid tribute to the deceased, describing him as a committed patriot who consistently prioritised the interests of his community.
Obi said Anigbo was deeply devoted to Agulu and remained unwavering in his loyalty, noting that he resisted any influence that could compromise the welfare of his people. He added that the late journalist exemplified integrity in both public service and personal conduct.
He also commended the Anglican Church for giving Anigbo a dignified burial, stating that recognition should be based on impact rather than material wealth.
The Anglican Bishop of Awka Diocese, Alexander Ibezim, described Anigbo as a dedicated Christian whose service to both the church and society reflected humility and commitment.
He noted that the deceased contributed meaningfully to the growth of the Anglican Communion and his community, adding that his legacy would endure.
Other attendees at the funeral also paid tributes, describing Anigbo as a unifying figure and an outspoken journalist whose leadership helped promote professionalism within the NUJ in Anambra State.
