Troops Restore Calm After Deadly Communal Clash in Zamfara
Troops of the Nigerian Army have restored normalcy in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State following a communal clash that left one person dead and several others injured.
The incident, which occurred around 1:10 p.m. on March 20, disrupted movement along the Maru–Bungudu road after the violence led to a blockade of the route.
Security sources said soldiers from the 1 Brigade, deployed at the Forward Operating Base in Maru, responded swiftly to a distress call and moved to the scene to contain the situation.
On arrival, the troops reportedly engaged the warring groups and facilitated dialogue between the aggrieved parties, helping to de-escalate tensions and prevent further violence.
Following the intervention, normalcy was restored in the area and vehicular movement resumed along the previously affected road.
Residents have been urged to avoid actions that could threaten peace and stability, while security personnel continue to maintain heightened surveillance to forestall any recurrence of unrest.
