PDP Ready to Reclaim Abia in 2027: Ugba
By 𝔸bdulrazak Tomiwa
PDP chieftain Olugu Kalu Ugba said that the party is set to reclaim Abia in 2027. He likened the PDP to a phoenix, noting that members are returning to rebuild its former glory.
Ugba blamed the PDP’s 2023 loss on internal “protest votes” rather than opposition strength. He believes the party defeated itself by ignoring zoning but will be unstoppable once reunited.
He insisted that the “Abia Charter of Equity” mandates power must shift to Abia North. Specifically, he argued that an Ohafia person should be governor to ensure regional justice.
The chieftain criticized Governor Alex Otti’s administration for prioritizing social media optics over real development. He claimed Abia’s current minimum wage lags significantly behind neighboring states like Imo.
Ugba dismissed claims that the PDP failed the nation, noting most current leaders originated from the party. He argued that the party’s deep experience remains its greatest competitive advantage.
For 2027, Ugba assured that the PDP still controls the grassroots and will field credible candidates. He concluded that the Ohafia people are ready to politically unseat any opposition.
