Former Edo Education Commissioner, Paddy Iyamu has officially declared his candidacy for the Oredo Federal Constituency seat. The announcement took place Friday at the APC Secretariat in Oredo, supported by a large crowd of party leaders and followers.

During the event, Iyamu dismissed claims that he lacks grassroots support, citing his active involvement with the APC since 2016. He emphasized that his run is a natural progression of his long-term dedication to the party and the local political landscape.

The aspirant highlighted his history of community service, specifically his empowerment programs for women and youths that began in 2019. He also noted his successful efforts in mobilizing voters for Senator Monday Okpebholo during previous election cycles.

Iyamu refuted rumors of being rejected at the ward level, labeling such claims as politically motivated falsehoods. He maintained that he remains a loyal party member with a cordial relationship with the state leadership despite internal opposition.

Oredo APC Chairman Dr. Osamudiamen Osarenkhoe defended Iyamu’s loyalty and called for party unity to avoid internal friction. He urged members to stop “backbiting,” noting that leadership is ultimately determined by divine will and collective effort.

The declaration drew high-profile figures, including former Speaker Uyi Igbe and Hon. Patrick Obahiagbon. Their presence, along with groups like the City Boy Movement, underscored the significant political backing behind Iyamu’s legislative bid.
